Crypto prediction markets compared

Last reviewed · By Louis Gherardi, editor · Nimb Markets

Polymarket is by far the largest crypto prediction market in 2026: on 8 November 2026 its open events had about $255M traded over 7 days. Other on-chain venues, on chains such as BNB Chain, Base and Solana, are much smaller overall, though some have taken a large share of weekly volume for short periods. Decentralised mostly means self-custody and on-chain settlement, not freedom from rules: most venues still block some countries. Disclosure: Nimb maps Polymarket and earns a builder fee on orders routed through it.

What should I check before using a crypto prediction market?

  1. Legal where you are. On-chain does not mean allowed. Are prediction markets legal?
  2. Depth. A small venue's headline volume can come from a few markets or from wash trading. Look at the order book or pool size for your market. Manipulation and wash trading.
  3. Resolution. Who decides and how disputes work. An operator-controlled oracle is a trust assumption.
  4. Contracts and audits. Smart-contract and bridge risk is real; prefer audited, long-running contracts.
  5. Token incentives. Points and airdrop programmes inflate volume. Trade for the market, not the points. Airdrops.
  6. Wallet safety. Read every signature. Create a wallet safely.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best decentralised prediction market?

By depth and data, Polymarket. Smaller venues can suit niche or very short markets, with more liquidity and resolution risk.

Are crypto prediction markets legal?

It depends on your country. Most block the US and other restricted places for new positions on their main platforms.

Can I use a crypto prediction market without KYC?

Polymarket's international platform uses a self-custody wallet; it still enforces location rules. Regulated venues require identity checks.
