On Nimb, connecting a wallet takes about 2 minutes: press Connect wallet, choose a browser wallet or WalletConnect, switch to Polygon, sign one message that proves you control the wallet, and approve a one-time, gasless setup of your Polymarket trading wallet. Nimb never holds your funds or keys, and every order needs your signature.
You need a connected wallet only to trade. The map, market panels and docs work without one. Before you connect, make sure you have a self-custody wallet and that your location is eligible to trade.
Where is the Connect wallet button?
The Connect wallet button sits at the top of the map, next to the docs icon. It is also what the order ticket's main button says until a wallet is connected. Pressing it opens a small panel titled "Connect a wallet to trade", with the line "You keep custody. We never hold your funds." Check the address bar says nimb.markets before you go on.
Browser wallet or WalletConnect?
- Browser wallet (MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet): your extension opens and asks which account to share with nimb.markets. Sharing an address lets Nimb read it; it does not let Nimb spend from it.
- WalletConnect (mobile): Nimb shows a QR code. Open your mobile wallet, choose scan or WalletConnect, and approve the connection on your phone.
If your wallet is on another network, it asks to switch to Polygon. Approve only if it shows chain ID 137.
What do the wallet pop-ups ask you to sign?
A signature is your wallet's cryptographic approval of a specific message or transaction; for orders it uses the EIP-712 format, which shows readable fields instead of raw data. Here is every pop-up you can expect.
| Pop-up | Purpose | Costs gas? | How often |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connect account | Shares your address with Nimb | No | Once per browser, until you disconnect |
| Switch to Polygon | Points your wallet at chain 137 | No | When your wallet is on another network |
| ClobAuth message: "This message attests that I control the given wallet" | Creates your trading credentials with Polymarket's order book | No | First time on a device; again if credentials are cleared |
| Trading wallet setup and approvals | Deploys your Polymarket Deposit Wallet and lets Polymarket's exchange contracts settle trades from it | No (Polymarket's relayer pays) | Once per address |
| Order | Signs one order: market, side, size, price | No | Every order |
| Withdrawal | Moves pUSD out of your trading wallet | No, if routed through the relayer | Each withdrawal |
Why do you sign a message before trading?
Polymarket's order book needs proof that the person sending orders controls the wallet. The ClobAuth message is that proof. It is a signature, not a transaction: it moves no money, costs no gas and grants no spending rights. From it, your browser derives the credentials that authenticate your orders. They stay in your browser session, not on Nimb's servers.
What is a Deposit Wallet?
A Deposit Wallet is Polymarket's default smart-contract account: it holds your pUSD and positions and only acts on signatures from your wallet. It has been the default for every Polymarket account wallet deployed since 4 May 2026. Its address is derived from your wallet's address, so the same wallet always maps to the same Deposit Wallet.
When you first connect, Nimb asks Polymarket's relayer to deploy your Deposit Wallet and set its trading approvals, so you do not need a polymarket.com account or POL for gas. You then have two addresses:
- Signer address
- Your browser or mobile wallet. It signs. It is not your trading balance.
- Trading wallet (Deposit Wallet) address
- Where your pUSD and positions live. Deposits go here, through the bridge address Nimb shows you.
If you already have a Polymarket account wallet for the same address, Nimb is expected to use it rather than create a new one. Next, fund it with USDC on Polygon.
Can Nimb move your funds?
No. Nimb is a front-end: it builds an order, your wallet signs it, and the signed order goes to Polymarket's order book, where it settles on Polygon.
| Nimb can | Nimb cannot |
|---|---|
| See your public address, balance and positions (all public on Polygon) | See or use your recovery phrase or private key |
| Prepare an order or withdrawal for you to review | Send any order or transfer without your signature |
| Add its builder code to orders, for attribution of a small builder fee, included in the price you see | Hold, pause or freeze your funds |
| Check Polymarket's geoblock from your browser | Override Polymarket's location rules |
The trading approvals set up at connection point at Polymarket's exchange contracts, not at Nimb. Nimb will never ask for your recovery phrase. If a page that looks like Nimb asks for it, close it.
Does Nimb check your location?
Before any order, Nimb calls Polymarket's geoblock endpoint from your browser, so your own connection is what is checked. If your location cannot open positions, buying is switched off; in close-only countries you can still sell what you hold. Details are on restricted countries.
How do you disconnect?
- In Nimb: press your short address (where Connect wallet was) and choose Disconnect. Nimb forgets the address in this browser.
- In your wallet: open its list of connected sites and remove nimb.markets. In WalletConnect, end the session on your phone.
- Funds stay where they are. Disconnecting does not move pUSD or close positions. Reconnect the same wallet and they are there.
Revoking token approvals is rarely needed: they belong to your Deposit Wallet and point at Polymarket's contracts. If you believe your wallet is compromised, do not revoke piecemeal; create a new wallet and withdraw everything to it.
What if the connection does not work?
| You see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "No browser wallet found here. Install MetaMask or Rabby, or open the live site." | No wallet extension is active in this browser. | Install one from its official site and reload, or use WalletConnect. |
| "Connection cancelled." | You closed or rejected the wallet pop-up. | Press Connect wallet again. |
| QR code does not connect | The mobile wallet does not support WalletConnect, or the session expired. | Refresh the QR code, update the wallet app, check both devices are online. |
| Wrong network warning | Your wallet is not on Polygon. | Accept the switch to chain ID 137. |
| Buying unavailable, or Connect wallet greyed out | Polymarket's geoblock says your location cannot open positions. | See restricted countries. Do not use a VPN. |
| Balance shows $0 after a deposit | Bridge still converting, or funds sent to the signer address. | Wait a few minutes; check where you sent them. See funding mistakes. |
Once connected and funded, place your first order, or read how the order ticket works. Prediction markets are risky; you can lose your whole stake. Read the risks first.
